Patterson seniors obtain awards for college

Patterson High School seniors received recognition and funds for college expenses after attaining thousands of dollars in scholarships from universities, colleges and local organizations awarded at Senior Awards Night held in late May.

Nearly $63,000 in scholarships were presented to the graduating seniors that night, along with almost $75,000 presented by the Patterson Recognizing Individuals Determined to Excel on May 13.

Some of the larger awards went to three local seniors.

 Emily Bingham’s awards totaled $33,500. She received recognition from the Northern California Scholarship, where she earned $8,000 per year for the last four years. She also received the Lammerville Teacher Association award of $1,000 and the Cabrillo Civic Clubs of California award of $500.

Brooke Hejnal received $7,300 in scholarships, which included the Patterson Lions Club, $3,000; Patterson Teacher Association, $500; Elks Scholarship, $800; Tom Mellis Scholarship, $2,500, and California School Employee Association Scholarship, $500.  

Natalee Caeton’s awards totaled $2,750, which includes the Bright Family Scholarship, $1,000; Grainger Scholarship, $1,000; Gustafson, $250, and Women in Agriculture Scholarship, $500.
