Patterson Recognizing Individuals Determined to Excel awarded $74,500 in scholarships to local youths for academic excellence within Patterson Joint Unified School District in the Clara Johnson Auditorium on May 13.

PRIDE began more than 10 years ago when a group of locals came together with leftover bond money of $10,000. The group has grown over the years into a community-based corporation that gives out scholarships for post-secondary education. This year’s bounty proved to be larger than last year’s as PRIDE notably secured an additional $13,150 in funds.

The PRIDE organization and its partners to date have awarded more than $605,850 in scholarships to 521 students within the district.
