The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office just confirmed that Francisco Javier Padilla, 43, of Ceres was recently killed in a fatal crash near Westley Wednesday afternoon.

According to California Highway Patrol, Daniel Bays, 27, of Patterson was driving a 2012 Ford F-150 pickup truck north on Highway 33 at roughly 2:15 p.m. when he attempted to take a slow left on Frank Cox Road.

Padilla, driving a 2006 Harley Davidson, was heading south on Highway 33 at the same time Bays attempted to turn causing a collision. Padilla hit the front of the truck, causing him to be ejected from the motorcycle, and was found lodged into the pickup.

Padilla, reported dead at the scene, was wearing his helmet at the time of the collision, according to CHP. Bays is reported to be unhurt.

CHP said that investigators have determined that drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the collision.
