Garden Club plans potluck
The Patterson Garden Club potluck and installation of officers will begin at 11:30 a.m. May 28. This will be the last meeting of the season; meetings will resume in September.
Those who attend the potluck should bring a dish to share and their own table setting to the Las Palmas Mobile Home Estates Clubhouse, 250 E. Las Palmas Ave.
Meanwhile, in the fall, club meetings will enable members to continue opportunities to share gardening tips, learn from experts and celebrate gardening in the community.
Yearly membership dues are $10 per person; new members are always welcome. Copies of the Garden Club Cookbook are available for $10 per copy.

50-Plusers are busy in the spring
The Orestimba 50-Plus Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the L.J. Newman Hall, 649 Orestimba Road, in Newman. Lorraine Bettencourt, Jeannie Madenwald, Ellie Greer and Marlene Terry will provide refreshments.
The hall was decorated in a Cinco de Mayo theme for the May 1 meeting, and Mary Gonzalez shared the history of Cinco de Mayo.
Kent Madenwald opened the meting and thanked Bettencourt for her donation of coffee and Jim Crow for his donation of several bean bowls for the club. A sympathy card was sent to the family of Hershell Howard, and club members observed a moment of silence for him.
The group sang the happy birthday song to Jeannie Madenwald and Connie Andersen.
Andersen won the 50-50 prize, and Joe Rocha won the sign-in prize. Wanda Thompson and Rose Borba won additional items.
Sign-ups are being taken for the June 11 “Run Away Trip” at a cost of $39 per person. Anyone age 21 and older is welcome to sign up for the mystery trip by calling Betty, 862-0787.
