The group is from Isa Norin High School, an agricultural specialty school in Kyushu, the southernmost of Japan’s four main islands. Isa Norin hopes to establish an ongoing relationship with Patterson High School, so the Japanese students will spend weekday mornings at PHS observing the agriculture program and volunteering to help with planting. Then, in the afternoons, the group will visit local farms, ranches, food processing centers, and nurseries.
In addition to learning about American agriculture, the group wants to better understand American family life, so they will stay with host families chosen from local volunteer families. The host families have no obligation beyond providing room and board for the six days and transportation to and from Patterson High on the weekdays. An orientation for the selected host families will be conducted the evening of August 13.
