Faye Alter Gonzalez

July 12, 1943 — July 16, 2014

Faye Alter Gonzalez, 71, of Patterson, died with her husband by her side Wednesday, July 16, 2014 comfortably at her home after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

She lived for 12 years in the city of Patterson and was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson.

Mrs. Gonzalez was born on July 12, 1943 in New Kensington, PA the daughter of M. Roy and Hazel Alter and was raised on the family farm. She graduated from Vandergrift High School and attended Tarkio College where she was a member of the touring choir.

Mrs. Gonzalez is survived by her husband, Louis R. Gonzalez, who she celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary with earlier this year. Her daughter, Lisa (Tim) Tessaro of Ceres, and her three sons, Clifford Gonzalez of Patterson, Michael Gonzalez of Pittsburgh, PA, and John (Sonja) Gonzalez of Patterson. She was loved and will be missed by her grandchildren, Haley, Kendall and Jace Tessaro, Jaired, Sierra and Vivien Gonzalez, as well as her siblings Ruth Ann Vilsack, David, Keith and Clay Alter and Jenny Adams, all of Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Gonzalez, her grandchildren, Ashton and Braydon Gonzalez, and her parents.

Mrs. Gonzalez had a beautiful smile that complimented her warm personality.

She was crafty and creative, with a love of flowers, babies and baking desserts. She enjoyed cooking big meals for her family and having everyone around her large kitchen

table where guests were always welcome.

A visitation was observed and a rosary was recited Sunday, July 20 at Hillview Funeral Chapel in Patterson. A Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, July 21 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson. Inurnment was private.
