DETAILS: The Youth Action Commission alongside Patterson Rec. and the Patterson Teen Center are hosting. Pre-paid entrance is $1, at-the-door $3.

Saturday, Aug. 9
Third Annual Back to School Block Party and Safety Fair

WHEN: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHERE: Patterson’s downtown circle

DETAILS: Patterson Joint Unified School District and the city of Patterson will host the third annual combined Back to School Block Party and Safety Fair to hail in the new school year. There will be a variety of new and old organizations participating, including the Stockton Thunder, Modesto Junior College, KlaasKids Foundation and the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. Kids and families can also look forward to games, free hot dogs from the Lions Club and free books provided by First Book.

Legion has summertime meeting

Paint for Freedom

WHEN: 6 to 9 p.m.

WHERE: Patterson Covenant Church, 435 W. Las Palmas Ave

DETAILS: The Paint for Freedom Art Gala Reception and Auction will be at the Covenant Church on Aug. 16. The fundraiser will raise money for victims of human trafficking who live in a safe house called A New Day for Children.

Local organizers Chris Collier and Michelle Lum want to educate the community about the growing problem of human trafficking.

Artists can join in and create artwork from 7 to 9 p.m. the first and third Wednesdays of each month at Patterson Covenant Church, 435 W. Las Palmas Ave. or artwork can be mailed to the above address.
