The firefighters left last Tuesday July 29 to form a five-engine strike team along with crews from Modesto, Stanislaus Consolidated, UC Davis, and Yolo County.
Patterson’s firefighters have been assisting with the Bald Fire which is currently burning eight miles southeast of Fall River Mills in Shasta County and is 68% contained as of Wednesday.
A lighting strike was the determined origin of the fire, which has burned 39,926 acres in and around the Lassen National Forest.
The fire is burning in an area affected by long term drought, but National Forest Service firefighters are projecting a full containment of the Bald Fire no later than Sunday, Aug. 14.
An evacuation for residents in the area was lifted Tuesday.
The local firefighters may come home this week, or they may be re-assigned to another area wildfire depending on the situation.
