PHS class welcomes alumni

DETAILS: The Patterson High School Class of 1959 will have its reunion on Saturday, Aug. 16 at Damasco’s Fine Food & Spirits at the Best Western Plus Villa Del Lago, 2959 Speno Drive. On Friday, Aug. 15 the class is having an informal get together at Mil’s Restaurant at 6:30 p.m. Friends and former classmates are invited to attend.

Saturday, Aug. 16

Paint for Freedom

WHEN: 6 to 9 p.m.

WHERE: Patterson Covenant Church, 435 W. Las Palmas Ave

DETAILS: The Paint for Freedom Art Gala Reception and Auction will be at the Covenant Church on Aug. 16 to raise money for victims of human trafficking who live in a safe house called A New Day for Children, and educate the community on the subject. Artists can join in and create artwork the first and third Wednesdays of each month at Patterson Covenant Church, or artwork can be mailed to the above address.

Monday, Aug. 18

Adult ESL registration set

WHEN: 11 a.m. to 5p.m.

WHERE: Patterson Branch Library Community Room, 46 N. Salado Ave.

DETAILS: The Patterson Joint Unified School District English as a Second Language adult program will open registration. The classes will focus on expanding English language skills in speaking, reading, writing and listening.

Beginner and Intermediate/Advanced Classes will be offered. The Patterson classes will be conducted at Del Puerto High School from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Grayson Classes will be conducted at Grayson Charter School on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 to 11 a.m.

Thursday, Aug 21

Biggest Loser Contest begins

WHEN: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHERE: West Side Theatre, 1331 Main St., Newman

DETAILS: The West Side Health Care Task Force will present its annual Healthy Choices Summit and Biggest Loser Contest. Teams from Patterson, Gustine and Newman will weigh in collectively on a giant scale then compete for eight weeks to see which team can lose the most collective weight.
