Patterson’s AutoZone auto parts store, located off of Highway 33, was robbed Tuesday evening, Aug. 19, at approximately 9 p.m., by a suspect who fits the same description of a person responsible for a rash of commercial robberies within the city over the past few months.

Described as a black male adult 6’3”-6’5” and weighing approximately 200-230 pounds, the suspect entered the store, demanded money, and left with an undisclosed amount of money. Deputies were on scene immediately in the area. However, it was unclear which direction the suspect came from or left to, according to Sargeant Paul Yotsuya, and deputies were unable to locate him.

The suspect was wearing a hoodie sweatshirt with the hood on and drawn closed.

When asked whether the Sheriffs believed that the suspect may be the one responsible for previous commercial robberies, Yotsuya replied, “How could you not?”

Yotsuya confirmed that the description of the AutoZone robber is very similar to the person involved in the McDonald’s, CVS and Papa Murphy’s incidents.

“We’re working every lead that we can on all of these,” Yotsuya added. “[Leads] are very few and far between.”

Wells Fargo and Dollar Tree suspects arrested

Sargeant Paul Yotsuya announced that those responsible for the armed robbery of the Wells Fargo branch within the SaveMart supermarkets June 19, as well as the Dollar Tree store June 4, have been identified, arrested and are being dealt with in the criminal justice system.

Additional information was not received as of press time. More information, as well as the booking photos of those apprehended, will be published in the Aug. 28 issue of the Patterson Irrigator.
