50-Plusers have evening meeting

The Orestimba 50-Plus Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 19, at the L.J. Newman Hall, 649 Orestimba Road, in Newman.

Dorothy Silva, Millie Moudry, Kathy Vogel and June Spaulding will provide the refreshments.

At the June 5 meeting, members were thanked for their donation of items for the ice cream social. The meeting followed, and the club received a thank-you card from Ida Souza.

Guests Marie Coldsnow, Caroline Stone, Bonnie Jett and Penny Webster were welcomed to the club. George Vogel is the newest member. Sunshine cards were sent to Beverly Frias, Rosita Diaz and Gene Servos. A sympathy card was sent to Susie Hurst.

Norman Lopes won both the 50-50 prize and the sign-in prize.

Soroptimists seek clothing for fashion show

Soroptimist International of Patterson is seeking vintage clothing for its fashion show featuring various outfits through the years. The fashion show will begin at 2 p.m. Fourth of July at City Hall, 1 Plaza. Tickets are $5 per person.

Soroptimists are looking for outfits, accessories and photos of fashions from each decade beginning with 1909, the year Patterson was founded.

The show will include a short history of items and who donated them. Anyone who wishes to lend clothing — such cheerleading outfits, wedding dresses or miniskirts should contact any Soroptimist.

Soroptimist is a women’s service organization that raises funds that are donated back to the local community. Tickets may be purchased from any Soroptimist or at the door.
