The Patterson High football team’s campaign was fittingly honored Dec. 7, when players and cheerleaders were feted at the Tigers’ annual team banquet in the school cafeteria.
Patterson coach Rob Cozart addressed the athletes’ friends and families, as well as the many others who helped make another season of Tigers football a success.
Cody Weinzheimer, 2009’s Western Athletic Conference Outstanding Offensive Back, passed for 1,677 yards and 18 touchdowns and was named the Tigers’ most valuable player.
Teammates Wyatt Young and Nate Shelton (co-outstanding offensive players), Adrian Laurel (outstanding defensive player), Caleb Martinez (outstanding lineman), Jacob Priester (esprit de corps) and Nick Ward (most improved) also garnered team awards.
Hola Tupouata, Priester and Laurel were recognized as team captains.
Laurel was named the WAC’s defensive MVP. Young (WAC outstanding receiver) and Priester (WAC outstanding lineman) took home league honors as well.
Junior varsityThe Patterson JV football team commemorated this season’s WAC championship by honoring the athletes that made it possible.
Bryan Todd was named team MVP. Outstanding defensive player honors went to Anthony McCaskell. Robert Marroquin earned the outstanding offensive player award.
George Garcia, Frankie Sanchez and Timothy Tupouata were recognized as team captains.
FreshmenThe freshman Tigers also claimed a WAC title of sorts, finishing 2-0 in league play.
Joey Lopes was named the team’s offensive player of the year. Teammate Semisi Tupouata earned defensive player of the year honors.
Tony Pimentel and Joey Howard earned team captain honors.
Varsity cheerAshlee Jones was named the squad’s most improved cheerleader at last week’s banquet.
Teammates Mariah Boos (Tiger Pride) and Shari Reyes (teamwork) also collected awards.
Brianna Gill and Lauren White were named captains.
JV cheerSamantha De La Rosa was awarded the most improved cheerleader honor, and Victoria Bellini was honored for her teamwork. Daniella Hernandez earned Tiger Pride honors.
Teammates Adriana Becerra and Lauren Csicsery were named captains.
