EDITOR,

I wanted to take a moment to thank the Patterson Apricot Fiesta Organization for providing an amazing fireworks display this year.

To be honest, this Apricot Fiesta was not the same for me for many reasons. The fiesta is missing longtime worker and former president Kitty Lambert. Her passing has left a hole that cannot be replaced. No one can top her fun hat and tan shorts! Also, this year was the first time in 27 years in which my parents, Richard and Rosa, were not able to place their traditional Mexican food booth. They have been serving the community with delicious burritos and tacos for longer than most of us have attended the fiesta. This year, unfortunately, my father suffered a stroke. He has a long road ahead of him, but I know with the amazing job my mom is doing caring for him, he will get better, and my prayer is to see their booth back up next year.

With all this being said, once the fireworks started it made everything a little sweeter. Thank you for an amazing show. It has been nearly a decade since we have seen a show like that! Being someone who attended her first fiesta at 3 weeks old, and who has been to it every year since, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You turned a gloomy fiesta into an uplifting one. Especially since I was able to share it with my husband and 8-month-old, who clapped through the whole fireworks display!
